Born and raised in the Bronx in 1968, Sammy Zherka was among eight children born to Albanian immigrants fleeing political persecution from the communist regime at the time. He credits his parents with imparting the values of honest labor and remaining steadfast in the face of uncertainty and malevolence.
He began working at age 11 as a dishwasher at Sal’s Pizza at the Bronx, eventually taking a career in selling real estate in the 1980s.
He is a proud husband and father of eight, including quadruplets.
